Nur durch Bildung kann die Stellung der Roma in der Gesellschaft verbessert werden. Darum initiierten Innsbrucker Schüler ein Projekt, mit dem eine Schule für Roma in Ungarn finanziert wird. Bisher konnten so 45.000 Euro gesammelt werden.
Wer in der vorweihnachtlichen Zeit Gutes tun will, hat es dieses Jahr besonders einfach: Durch den Kauf eines eigens gestalteten „Roma-Sackerls“ unterstützt man nämlich Roma-Kinder und kann gleichzeitig seine Einkäufe bequem transportieren.
Schüler des Innsbrucker Gymnasiums am Adolf-Pichler-Platz initiierten dieses Projekt bereits vor einem Jahr. Und da es sehr erfolgreich verlief, geht die Aktion heuer bereits in die zweite Runde. Unterstützt durch Lehrer wie Angela Bachlechner konnten bisher knapp 45.000 Euro gesammelt werden: „Wir wollten den Schülern zeigen, dass man etwas verändern kann, wenn man sich nur engagiert.“

Memorandum of Understanding Between Amnesty International Hungary and Dr. Ámbédkár Iskola and The Human Rights Education Team of Amnesty International, International Secretariat for The Human Rights Friendly Schools Project
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishes partnership between Amnesty International Hungary (the Section), Dr. Ámbédkár Iskola (the School), and the Human Rights Education Team of Amnesty International, International Secretariat (the International Secretariat) for the purpose of implementing the Human Rights Friendly Schools Project.
I. DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The Human Rights Friendly Schools Project is implemented through partnerships between the Amnesty International Secretariat Human Rights Education Team, Amnesty International sections and structures, and secondary schools around the world.

Full-time EFL teaching posts at a special secondary school in NE Hungary
The Dr Ámbédkar Gimnázium is a special (needs?) secondary school supported by the Hungarian State, the Buddhist church and private funds. The school has over 400 young adult and adult students, most of whom come from extremely poor Roma communities. The four teaching centres of the Gimnázium operate in small villages near Miskolc, NE Hungary, providing primary and secondary education and vocational courses.
With the financial support of the Buddhist church, the Gimnázium is offering 4 full-time teaching positions for qualified EFL teachers. Potential candidates should be flexible, willing to take on a challenge, patient and friendly.
General conditions
(The following conditions are based on preliminary information received from the school. Details are currently subject to negotiations and will be finalized by the end of November.)
Employer: Dr. Ámbédkar Gimnázium, Szakképző és Általános Iskola (3720 Sajókaza, Ady E. út 2.)
Contracts: full-time, from 3 to 12 months.
Accommodation: in Miskolc or Kazincbarcika (nearest towns) provided in rented flats by the school.
Teaching load: 24 teaching hours (45ʼ) /week.
Travel to/from teaching centres: by bus (public transport) where available, elsewhere car transfer will be provided.
Salary: HUF150,000 net pcm (accommodation provided free of charge)
Paid holiday: 6-8 weeks (summer, Easter, for one year contracts)
Start date: January 2011
International House Budapest is planning to provide educational support for teaching staff working on the Teaching the Roma project.
